“Green Sky” CD release!
Longtime musical associates Rich Greenblatt and Mark Shilansky join up in a co-led band and recording entitled “Green Sky.”
Greenblatt’s vibraphone and Shilansky’s piano engage in musical dialogue and interpret their jazzy original music and re-imaginings of jazz classics, with the support of the dream-team rhythm section of Greg Toro on bass and Mike Connors on drums. The instrumentation echoes the classic sound of the Modern Jazz Quartet, their palette augmented by guests Nick Grondin on guitars and Peter Kenagy on trumpet (both composers and bandleaders in their own right), for an evening of tuneful, interactive, and always grooving jazz, evocative of artists such as George Shearing and Gary Burton, with a modern twist.
